Ronald D. “Ron” Wilder, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, surrounded by his family and his loyal dog, Diesel — who never left his side.

Born in Lamar, Colorado, on January 31, 1941, Ron was the son of Darrell D. and Helen E. (Moore) Wilder. He attended several schools growing up and learned early that hard work and determination could take a person farther than any diploma ever could.

After proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps, Ron went on to build a life marked by grit, skill, and loyalty. He retired from Cessna Corporation and later owned and operated a ServiceMaster franchise. Ron also worked in construction, and many of the projects he helped build around the Hutchinson area are still enjoyed by the community to this day. He was instrumental in building and helping to start the Cessna Gun Club, now known as the River Creek Campground and Gun Club, a place that reflects his love of craftsmanship, camaraderie, and the outdoors.

Ron and his wife, Cheryl Parsley Wilder, were married for 63 years. A true partnership built on love, laughter, and perseverance through all of life’s ups and downs. His greatest pride was always his family. He is survived by Cheryl; daughter, Shawnee Wilder of Colorado; son, Troy (Lisa) Wilder of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Wilder, Evan (Rachel) Wilder, and Sara (Lee) Riggs; and five great-grandchildren who always brought a sparkle to his eye. He’s also survived by his sister, Patricia (Graeme) Fuller of Kansas City; brother-in-law, Ross Schnabel of Hutchinson; and his faithful companion, Diesel.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Gary Wilder, Darla Wagner, and Kathy Birchler.

Cremation has taken place per Ron’s wishes. A come-and-go celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at 6103 N. Tobacco Rd., Hutchinson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Redemption Animal Rescue, in care of Inman Funeral Home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.inmanfh.com.
