Reta Lou (Toews) Wiens was born to Henry F. and Minnie (Ratzlaff) Toews on December 7, 1932, in McPherson, Kansas.
She passed peacefully at her home in Inman, surrounded by loved ones on Monday, March 9, 2026.
She graduated from Inman Rural High School in 1951. She married Wilber G. Wiens on May 16, 1954, at HoffnungsauMennonite Church, near Inman. They were privileged to share 71 years of marriage and were blessed with one daughter,Patricia, and three sons, Jay, Max, and Lee.
She was a devoted farm wife and also worked as a school cook and cashier at the Inman Market.
She was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church, a charter member of the Friendship Sewing Circle, and served on the Social Committee. She was a 4-H leader in cooking, sewing, and was Country Cousins Community Leader. She was also a longtime member of the Midway Neighbors Extension Homemakers Unit.
Reta was the foundation of faith for her family. Her dedication as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother is how she will be remembered.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harvey R. Toews; sister-in-law, Jane Toews; and brother-in-law, Dr. Roy Weber.
Surviving her are her husband, Wilber G. Wiens, Inman; daughter, Patricia (Mark) Waldschmidt, Waldron; sons, Jay W. (Leanna) Wiens, Max (Lou) Wiens, and Lee Wiens (Brenda Hipps), all of Inman; 7 cherished grandchildren, Julie Waldschmidt, Kevin (Stephanie) Waldschmidt, Scott (Christina) Wiens, Laura (Chase) Legere, Ashlyn (Josh) Ruhlmann, Alex Wiens, and Grant Wiens; 10 great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Mason, Kinsley, and Caden Waldschmidt, Judson and Deacon Wiens, Harper, Luke, and Beau Legere, and Sawyer Ruhlmann; a sister, Connie Weber, North Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026,with the family present at Inman Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 14, 2026, at North Inman Cemetery. Services will follow at 11:00 AM at Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman. Services will be lived streamed on the Inman Funeral Home Facebook page, which may be reached by going to www.inmanfh.com. Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, Water for Life, or Bethel Mennonite Church and sent to the funeral home.
