Paul Ray Hildrebrand, 78, passed away at his home after an unexpected short illness on Friday, January 23, 2026. He was born March 4,1947, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Art and Edna Froese Hildebrand. He was a 1965 graduate from Inman High School and had attended one year of college before attending Barber School. He had served as a medic in the United States Army Reserve for 6 years.
Paul had been a barber for ten years. After, he worked for Kansas Jack, McPherson and then Action Equipment, Moundridge, both as a machinist. He was a member of Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church. He enjoyed collecting arrowheads, bible study with his grandsons once a week, and going to all his grandchildren’s’ sports, including fishing, golf, basketball, and softball.
On August 22, 1968, he married Vickie Nikkel at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church, Inman. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his daughters and their families; Stephanie (Jason) Baird, Assaria, and their children, Hunter Baird and Bryna Baird, and Andrea (Brad) Unruh Hesston and their children, Cade Unruh and Ty Unruh; sisters Rosanne (Kenny) Showers, Athens, TX and Charlotte Ayre, Kansas City, Kansas; sister in law, Bonnie (Don) Kaufman, Moundridge, sister in law, Debbie Sisson, Inman, brother in law, Lee (Rochelle) Nikkel, Goddard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Donald Lee Hildrebrand, a brother in law, Bill Sisson, and a niece Janelle Kauffman.
Visitation with family present will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Inman Funeral Home. Burial will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Zoar Cemetery with the service to follow at 11:00 AM at Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church. Causal attire (jeans) is welcome.
