Obituary

Pamela Gene Ely Regehr, 77, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, surrounded by her family. She was born July 14, 1948, in Chanute, KS, the daughter of Gene and Miriam Lewis Ely. She was a 1966 graduate of Inman High School, received her associate’s degree from Hutchinson Community College, and then received her Bachelor of Education Degree from Emporia State University. She had resided in Galva for 15 years and McPherson for 41 years. While in McPherson, she taught high school English at McPherson High School for over 20 years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a volunteer at the McPherson Opera House. She loved to garden, read, sew, and was an avid shopper. She also enjoyed watching her grandkids in all their activities.

On August 31, 1968, she married Galen Regehr at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church, Inman. He survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Kelli Regehr (Lance) Lusk, Hutchinson, Lisa Regehr (DJ) Schmidt, El Dorado, and Jodi Regehr (Dustin) Hirsh, North Newton; grandchildren, Ally and Riley Lusk, Mallory (Ryan) Derry, Macy Parsons, and Ryan, Luke, and Regan Hirsh; and a brother, Gary Ely, Hutchinson. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Virgil and Marie Regehr; her sister-in-law, Betty Ely; a brother-in-law, Jim Reeves, and a grandson, Nicholas Regehr Parsons.

Cremation has taken place. The family will have a private graveside service at a later date. Family suggests memorials be made to the Inman Senior Center in care of Inman Funeral Home. To leave a condolence for the family, visit: www.inmanfh.com.
