Gerald Ray Sweeden

Gerald R. Sweeden, 73, died October 7, 2023, at his home in Hutchinson.  He was born January 23, 1950, in Yale, OK.  He was a graduate of Russell High School.  He had served as a cook in the United States Army for over 20 years.  He then worked at Tyson, Deluxe Tank, and Cessna.  He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and enjoyed reading.  On September 23, 1973, he married Karen Hathaway.  She died December 27, 2022. 

Survivors include 2 daughters, Shawna Williams and DawnEtta (John) Ummel, both of Hutchinson; 3 grandchildren; Jaycee Sweeden, Brandon Ummel, and Katie Ummel, all of Hutchinson; a brother, Alvin Sweeden, Waldon, KS; and 4 sisters, Faye Lamb, Ruth Ann Staley, and Carol Fox, all of Great Bend, and Helen, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and 2 sisters, Kathy Coyle and Sandy Brenson.

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 13, 2023, at Riverside Baptist Church, Hutchinson.  Memorial contributions may be made to Traditions Home Health or Riverside Baptist Church, in care of Inman Funeral Home.  To leave a condolence for the family, visit: www.inmanfh.com.
