Elvin "PeeWee" H. Wyer

February 20, 1935 — April 19, 2021

Elvin “PeeWee” H. Wyer, 86, died April 19, 2021 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.  He was born February 20, 1935 in Plevna, the son of Verbal and Lucille Helm Wyer.  A resident of Nickerson, he was a member of the Mid State Street Rods, a founding member of the Nickerson Boat Club, loved putting puzzles together, enjoyed restoring and working on street rods, woodworking, and leatherworking.  He also loved his dog, Tillie.  He was retired from Dillons and had served as a machinist in the Navy Reserves.

On May 22, 1954 he married Betty Lou Miller in Hutchinson.  She passed away December 14, 2019.

Survivors include daughters, Kathy Knox, Wichita, Gay (Bret) Norquist, Wisconsin, and Molly (Brandon) Taggart, Nickerson; granddaughters, Camey Beasley, Nickerson, Julie, Lindsey, and Lacey; numerous great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Patricia Hopengardner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Keith Wyer; and a brother in law, James Hopengardner.

Per his wishes, cremation is planned.  A car show for PeeWee will take place on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 1-3PM at the Nickerson Community Center.  Friends are invited to show up in their street rods and classic cars.  In lieu of flowers, PeeWee asks for donations to be made to the Shriner’s Hospital “for Caleb, the cute little kid in the bow tie,” in care of Inman Funeral Home, PO Box 490, Inman, KS  67546.  To leave a condolence for the family, visit:  www.inmanfh.com.
