Elaine Joyce (Friesen) Peterson

Elaine Joyce (Friesen) Peterson, 81, passed away peacefully with her four children by her side Tuesday December 21, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her late husband Jim Peterson and is survived by Bonnie (Rob) Whitley Goddard KS, Becky Kaufman McPherson KS, Penny (Jim) Dirks Kathleen GA, Brent (Chelsea) Peterson Olathe KS, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and close friend and companion Ronnie Strauss.
Elaine was born November 16, 1940, in Hillsboro Kansas daughter of Henry (Hank) and Matilda (Tillie) Friesen.
Elaine married James (Jimmy) Peterson June 22, 1958, at Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church in Inman, Kansas. They were married 50 years before Jim passed in 2010.
Spending the better part of her working years on the family dairy farm west of Inman, she was first to rise and often the last to bed, always preparing a warm meal for the family and anyone else who sat at her table. Elaine loved life on the farm, being neighborly, her family, traveling, singing, and entertaining. Her true love was Jesus and the church, staying active in bible studies and often singing on Sunday. Elaine was active in retirement and never let any “grass” grow under her feet as she always kept the wheels on her car “hot.” Never missing an opportunity to laugh with friends and family she was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Public visitation will be held Sunday evening December 26, 2021, with family present at Inman Funeral Home from 5-7pm followed by a celebration of life service Monday, December 27, 2021, at 11:00 Union Valley Bible Church Hutchinson KS. Memorial services will be live streamed on the funeral home facebook page. They will also be live streamed at www.unionvallybiblechurch.com or on the church's facebook page or youtube channel.
