Dororthy Ann "Dottie" Myers Erker was bor on January 2 1936. She was the first baby of the new year for Childress County, Texas and received several prizes. Dorothy graduated from Kirkland High School in 1955. We all enjoyed taking her back many times for "The first weekend in October" for the Kirkland School Reunions.
Mom will be going to heaven in red high heels. The heels are provided by Beverly and Carol. She always wanted the tallest and reddest heels and would never buy them for herself. Beverly always promised her she would bury her in the reddest heels she could find.
The dozen red roses are from dad. He would always buy her red roses. It could be Valentine's Day, her birthday, or no reason at all. It could be to apologize after an argument. Because when om was mad, she wasn't just mad a little bit, she was mad "all over." The song "On the Wings of a Dove" is being played because they would have danced to it at the VFW. Beverly remembers them dancing to it in the kitchen several times.
Mom also loved kids and playing dress up. She sat on every Santa's lap she could find. Dressing up for Halloween she had been a witch, a motorchycle mama, pregnant, a clown and for Christmas, Mrs. Claus many times.
Dottie is preceded in death by her loving husband at 55 years, Don an infant son, Ronald David, her parents, Leonard and Bessie Myers, sister, Wanda Steffey, her brother in law, Porter Steffey, and a nephew, Keith A. Steffey.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Beverly and Rick Castleberry, grandchildren, Amber, Amanda, and John; Nephew David and wife Linda Steffey; niece Carol and husband Wed (Steffey) Johnson; and lifelong best friend, Tooter and husband Larry Gribble, along with Odessa and family.
