David Allen Shank

David Allen Shank, 70, passed away April 6, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born March 16, 1955, in Hutchinson, the son of Kenneth and Ella Irene Stiles Shank. He was a graduate of Buhler High School. David lived in the Buhler area and worked for Riverbanks Orchard and Hodisco, both of Hutchinson, in lawn equipment sales. He moved to St. Louis and lived there for 30 years, working for Shindaiwa, also in lawn equipment sales. He then moved back to Hutchinson to enjoy and be closer to family until he passed away.

He married Deborah Kilpatrick, and they had 2 children. He then married Debra Louwien. She passed away on September 25, 2017.

David loved working on his riding lawn mower and his antique lawn tractor. He enjoyed motorcycles, boating, and radio-controlled airplanes. He was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his daughters, Melissa and husband Charles Hayes and Michelle and husband Dimitriy Vakulenko, both of Hutchinson; a brother, Dean Shank and a sister, Velma Ediger, both of Buhler; 11 grandchildren, Ash, Ian, Jill, Emma, Ella Zion, Josie, Jayden, Caspian, Emma, and Jaylee; and 2 great grandchildren, Emerie and Wyatt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and siblings, Vivian Eckert, Douglas Shank, and Dennis Shank.

Visitation will be held from 2-4PM Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Inman Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, April 14, 2025, at Buhler East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Reno County in care of Inman Funeral Home.
