Dale Clayton Faelber, born April 9, 1926, on his parents’ George and Mary Hobson Faelber’s farm near Carlton, Kansas, left this earth on August 22, 2025. He attended Carlton Elementary School and Abilene High School. He spent his growing up years working on the farm and at age 14 operated the township road maintainer.
He was 18 when he left for WW2 and served from July 11, 1944, to June 19, 1946, as Tech Sergeant 4th class in the 28th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron. On returning home, he worked for Ezra Ade, Martin and Ade Earth Construction, Frisbee’s Construction, and in 1966 formed his own earth moving business Faelber Construction that he operated well into his 80’s.
Dale married Norma Rae Worman June 5, 1949, and had 4 children, living in Gypsum in the same house on Maple Street for 66 years.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sister Candace; brother Harry; in law Marvin and Sylvia Worman; Jack Worman, Dwight and Pat Conley, and Jim Hall.
Survivors include his daughters, Barbara (Roger) Messenger, Carol (Roger) Schmidt, and Diane Faelber; a son, Gary (Deb) Faelber; sisters-in-laws Dyretha Hall and Ruth Worman; brother-in-law Frank (Dedra) Worman; grandchildren, Stephanie (Terry) Thiessen, Steven (Brenda) Messenger, Kregg (Kerri) Schmidt, Jeff Schmidt, Ashley Faelber, and Zachary Faelber; 7 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Gypsum City Community Room, 521 Maple St, Gypsum, Kansas from 2-4PM. Family and friends are invited to come and remember Dale. To leave a condolence for the family, visit: www.inmanfh.com.
