Christian David Kaufman

Christian David Kaufman, 69, passed away doing what he loved, Sunday, July 6, 2025 in a motorcycle accident outside of Topeka, KS. He was born February 2, 1956 in Junction City, Kansas, the son of Gerald G. Kaufman and Marilyn M. Unruh. He was a 1974 graduate of Inman High School and received his bachelor's degree in structural engineering from New Orleans University.

His first job was as a journeyman plumber where he developed the skills that would serve him to later secure a position as mechanical engineer at Boeing in Wichita, where he worked for over 35 years. While there, Chris was involved in the design and delivery of the first Air Force One VC-25, the prototype development of the KC-767 Tanker, and a career-long member of the SPEEA union.

Christian enjoyed motorcycling, was an avid gun collector, and an award-winning home brewer and distiller. He was active in all of the arts as a sound and video technician for the Fox Theater in Hutchinson, the McPherson Opera House, and Bandy Sound Production. Chris also supported as sound director and judge for the Doc Sunback Film Festival.

He is survived by his daughters, Katherine and Elisabeth Kaufman (fiancé Shahab Namdar); ex-wife Sheri Kaufman-Marsh, twin brother Kent (Charlotte) Kaufman; brother Geoffrey (Kate) Kaufman; nieces and nephews Josh, Jessica, Troy, Stacy, and Alanna; and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Inman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 17, 2025 at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. The funeral service will be live streamed on the Inman Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow at North Inman Cemetery.
